This is the official site of WebWader, a.k.a. WorldWide Web Wader, W4
for short, a new application supplied by the JVS. It is a tool designed to check
rapidly the content of a whole web site. A single click on a button
and you start a slideshow presenting all the pages of the site of
your choice !
It is not a new browser. It does not compete with Netscape or Internet Explorer. It does not offer the possibility to follow hyperlinks by simply clicking on a word or an image. It is not a link checker. It does not verify that hyperlinks contained in a page point somewhere to another existing document. Rather it is an aspect checker. It can traverse automatically and thoroughly a tree of html pages, displaying each of them in a window, thus allowing a rapid control of the appearance of the page. It is especially useful for webmasters willing to redesign a site without risking to forget one or more files in a complex hierarchy. |

| Installation | Here are the instructions to download, install, configure and test the software.
The application is written in 100% pure Java and can be launched on any platform equipped with a java virtual machine 1.2 or better. Pre-compiled version as well as full source package are provided. |
| Documentation | To understand how to use
the program read the manual page. You may also
consult the FAQ.
The application comes with a GUI which makes usage quite straightforward. However, some comments about a bunch of configurable parameters can help new users. |
| Design | The internal
documentation is presented in this page.
For hackers wishing to understand or modify the program these hints are worth reading. Links to various pages related to the technology utilized to develop WebWader are provided. |
| RoadMap | The following page
describes what has been done since the
beginning of the project. It gives the list of functionnalities which will be implemented in
the coming weeks. And, of course, it reminds me of the list of
known bugs not yet fixed.
This report comments current results obtained with WebWader on a selection of sites. |
